Strawless in Seattle

Tutta Bella Goes Straw Free!

For nearly a year, Tutta Bella Neapolitan Pizzeria has featured compostable straws, but today we’re taking the plunge and going straw-free at all five of our neighborhood locations throughout the Puget Sound region. We will only provide compostable straws upon request.

Back in July of 2018, the City of Seattle requested that all food service businesses find recyclable or compostable packaging and alternatives to all disposable food service items, such as containers, cups, straws, utensils, and other products.

“Caring for the environment has always been central to our core beliefs,” said Tutta Bella Executive Chef Brian Gojdics.

“Since the beginning, we’ve been committed to sustainable practices, with an emphasis on using compostable and recyclable materials. We’ve looked at all types of compostable straws over the past year- paper, straw (hay), corn, you name it. We came to realize along the way that the best thing we can do to make the most impact is to eliminate straws altogether in our restaurants.”
