Frappto, one of the indigenous grapes of Sicily, in southern Italy. Part of the DOCG appellation of Cerasuolo di Vittoria, which typically blends this varietal with Nero D’Avola and is the only DOCG wine produced in Sicily. Frappato is growing in popularity as a single varietal wine, and is especially great for summer time drinking. Centonze specifically is one of few producers to make a 100% Frappato wine.
Known to be light in style but with a medium body, this wine is enjoyed while young. Frappato is a low alcohol and low tannin making it an easy drinking red. Expect an explosion of sweetish red fruits in the spectrum of candied cranberry, cherries, strawberry and raspberries. And this is just the start! Enter savory and floral notes reminiscent of lavender, rose petals, violets, mint and minerals which complements that sweet candied profile. The finish tends to be long and bright bringing forth that floral element, resulting in mouthwatering minerality that begs you to take another sip. This wine is perfect for those who love a light, bright fruit profile wine and can be served slightly chilled for those warm days.
